Support Art & Science! Butterflies & Friends on Parade is a community-wide summer celebration of art and science presented by Green Bay Packaging and The Einstein Project and supported by Dominion Resources and Wells Fargo Bank and with help from many other area businesses, foundations, organizations, and artists.

Save the Date! The 2009 Butterflies & Friends on Parade art auction will be:

Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the KI Convention Center

A butterfly with graceful wings of multi-colored forged and fabricated steel, "Hopp'n Good Time", a frog being created in conjunction with students from Syble Hopp School, and a turtle inspired by Pueblo Indian pottery are just three of 28 art pieces that will make the Green Bay community a more interesting place this summer as part of The Einstein Project's 2009 Butterflies & Friends on Parade, presented by Green Bay Packaging with support from the Dominion Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank.

A distinguished panel of twelve judges sorted through a record 98 applications to chose 28 designs for this year's on Parade event. Artists will begin work on the selected projects in the next few weeks and the finished art pieces will be unveiled in June to be placed along the Fox River in downtown Green Bay for public viewing throughout the summer.

On October 6th, the art pieces will be auctioned at the KI Convention Center with all proceeds benefiting The Einstein Project, a non-profit school-business-community partnership dedicated to improving the quality of science education for K-8 students in Wisconsin. Special guest auctioneer will be Action 2 News Anchor Bill Jartz.

"This blend of art and science has continued to be a well-received and much-anticipated event in our community," says Julie Paavola, executive director. "In addition to the pre-cast aluminum butterflies, we've added artist-created butterflies that the chosen artists will create from the ground up. The new turtle has artists quite excited, plus we've brought back the popular fiberglass/resin frogs. The quality of the designs and the artists continue to astonish us, and we are most appreciative of their support."
