Fieldtrip to local airport
Heckrodt Nature Preserve-Menasha has a great bird kit to use for a week
Have a pilot speak to the class
Talk with a model airplane club member
Invite an Ornathologist

WING PATTERN ACTIVITY
Give each student a wing pattern strip
Have them decorate them
Cut them out and fold on the line down the middle
Tape the two edges together so the strip is flat on the bottom and the rest makes a curved shape
Place the curved shape on a pencil with the flat side facing the student
Have the student blow across the top, the shape will lift just like an airplane wing will – they have created an airfoil
