ACTIVITIES:
Use hyper studio to do presentations & research - compare/contrast living organisms
Pond study – Barkhausen
Trip to Fallen Timbers
Tour the lab at St. Vincent Hospital
Tour Hoard Museum in Ft. Atkinson – information on pasteurization
Have students search for their own specimens
Grow mold on a piece of bread with various liquids
Have students bring in "mystery items" for viewing
TAM – Neville Museum for Human body study (go to a human body systems unit after this unit – cells)

INQUIRY:
Research Louis Pasteur – students get a chance to see him in a well-rounded way
Med. Tech./Lab. Tech. speaker from a hospital - showe slides of blood cells & bacteria
Speaker on Landfills, recycling & composting
Teacher-tube on YouTube has lots of clips of micro organisms
Bring in pond water samples. Can see some swimming organisms & find more when they make slides.
