ACTIVITIES:
Lesson 5 - Use a balance scale to see which soil parts are the heaviest
Lesson 12 - Build a dam to keep a town from flooding (study Hoover Dam)
Lesson 13: Slope – Manual suggests 7-8" slope (too steep) - reduce to 3-½ to 4"
Combine Lessons 13 & 14 – have one-half the class do each, compare slope/erosion
Lesson 15-16 - "Protecting our Home sites", students become engineers & construct a stream table, place a home in a section of the table (objective is not to have their home flood)
Field Trips
- Green Bay Waterworks
- Green Bay Sewage Treatment Plant
- Trip to a dam
Do terrain creation such as dam building, city formation, etc.
Add weather information
Reports on rivers, highlighting words they learned
Have one class present their favorite experiments to other classes
